Bare Escentuals Spring looks
Looking for spring looks? Bare Escentuals recently sent out an email on three different looks depending on the amount of time you have in the morning. Try either the 5, 10 or 15 minute look using their products and you're ready to go! If you don't have their products, you can use substitue colors that you already have in your collection. Right now is a good time to maximize the usage of your beauty products and still look beautiful!

Product Review: Venus® Embrace®
The Venus® Embrace® is by far one of the best shavers I have used ever! Why? It is conveniently located on my bathroom shower wall and it's easy to hold the handle to maneuver the 5 bladed razor across my legs. My legs feel smooth after shaving with this razor and I haven't experienced any razor burns. This has a slim handle which makes it easy to put back in its ShowerPod™ (it can also store extra cartridges). I don't like to have to use any messy shaving creams or gels, so I appreciate that the ribbon around the blades is moisturizing.
Read my review on TotalBeauty.com
The colors are just so bold and pretty- purple and light turquoise! The handle has a soft grip which, like I said earlier, makes it easier to handle in the shower, so it is good for the accident-prone. It has five blades to ensure that all the hairs in bumpy areas like the knees gets shaved off. After using this, my legs feel noticeably smoother and I don't have to shave as often.
You can find the Venus Embrace at a local drug or grocery store and it is affordable too. It costs about $9.99-$11.99 for the shower kit, which includes the refillable razor, two cartridges (one is already on the razor) and the ShowerPod. You definitely save money from not having to buy any extra shaving cream lotion because they already have it as part of the razor. Great deal!
My favorite part of the kit is the ShowerPod™ because of its multi-purpose usage. Not only can you use it for the razor, but you can use it to store other things in the bathroom if you have an extra one, like a loofah (with a string). You can also store cotton balls or shampoo/conditioner samples- anything that is light so be creative! :)

Alexander McQueen for Target in NYC- February 14-15, 2009
So this President's Day/Valentine's Day weekend, I went and braved the cold (standing in line for almost an hour) for the unveiling of Alexander McQueen's line for Target. (It officially hits stores on March 1, 2009) This weekend event was insane, the lines were ridiculously long, and once inside it felt like the lines for the changing rooms were even longer. People even bought their DOGS and BABIES there.
The design inside this market was unique but did not make it easy for the crowds. Granted that groups of people were being let in at a time and that there were about 5 sections located around the walls of the are and one area of racks in the middle, people were dashing back and forth to grab the clothes off the racks. Each section was poorly designed, in my opinion, because the racks were in a U-shape, which meant once you were inside that area and choosing the items you wanted, people were coming in and surrounding you. It wasn't too bad but in certain areas where people knew specifically what they wanted (think the grey jacket- one of the more sought after items), it was gone very quickly! Occasionally, they would refill the racks with other clothing but they didn't restock the grey jackets...
I couldn't help but take numerous photos of the artwork within the market. Brilliant and well done advertising pieces for the Alexander McQ line for Target. I absolutely adore the doll-face and was really hoping they would sell the dolls or something but if anyone knows where I can get them, please let me know!
So the second picture on the first row below, I was deciding between these three pieces. They are all basic tees/tanks but much edgier and stylish. I really like the blue/grey-based pattern because it has all sorts of images such as skulls and mermaids which you can't tell what they are until you look at them close-up. They had a basic tee just on the pattern but I thought it was too plain (plus I have too many tees!) The black tee was nice because it has a net fabric for the shoulders and also for half of the back part of the shirt. But I decided to just purchase the black tank with blue/grey pattern. :) That item costs $26.99 and they threw in a CD of an artist whose music was playing throughout the time I was there.

Happy Valentine's Day! <3
See how to get the look of your favorite Nars, Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent lipsticks at drugstore prices |
Why spend $30 on a lipstick when you can spend $3 and get the exact same look? We asked celebrity makeup artists Molly Stern and Fiona Stiles to share their favorite lipstick look-a-likes -- and they delivered exact shade and texture matches (no one will be able to tell the difference). Now you can get the look of a Chanel lipstick and still afford a night out. |

Straighten your Hair!
See the straighteners that topped the list, and the one 50 readers threw in the trash |
We think you should embrace your curls, but sometimes a girl's got to go sleek. We don't blame you but we do insist you use a good flat iron. A quality (but not necessarily expensive) straightener works quickly, damages hair less and gives strands a smooth, shiny finish. Bad flat irons? Well, they leave you a frizzy, damaged mess. Check out the irons TotalBeauty.com readers love (er, and one they hated). |

Valentine's Day this weekend!
It's Valentine's Day this weekend and however you will be celebrating, I hope there will be wonderful crafts involved. I was lucky to be an audience member of the Martha Stewart Show last week and it was an amazing experience. There were several taped segments including making a heart box and beautiful jeweled-like cookies!
The Valentine Heart Box is very simple and easy to make. To make yours, get the directions here: Valentine Treat Box
Source: www.marthastewart.com
You can also make these gorgeous cookies using this recipe here. This cookie recipe belongs to the Jewels of New York, a partnership between two friends who enjoy design and cooking! You can't help but notice the rich berry colors on the cookies! They are actually made of raspberry jam and to add more flavor and taste, lychee puree and prosecco is used. Yummy!
It's a simple sugar cookie and even Martha Stewart was surprised that there was no baking powder used (Apparently she uses it a lot for her own recipes.)
They sell these cookies (4 for $25) on their website, Jewels of New York if you are interested. But I think if you have the ingredients at home and have the patience to make them yourself, it will be a fun project! They will also be homemade and a wonderful gift for your loved one.
So after browsing the website a bit more, I found some great videos and features that they offer. If you remember my earlier post on Martha Stewart's favorite Mario Badescu products (Read more about it here), I saw the video in her Video Archive.
Not only is her video collection on past shows up-to-date, she has recipes, crafts, gardening tips, and so much more. My favorite is her Cookie of the Day feature.
Each day you will see a recipe of a yummy cookie dessert! Last Saturday's was a Creamy Fudge Heart, and the ingredients are so simple. It's basically milk, lots of sugar, and butter. They also have a Chocolate Mint Cookie (January 27) and it looks good and easy to make. If I can master this, maybe I won't need to buy those Girl Scout mint cookies anymore!
